    FAQ

Cleaning services in Malta: the questions hosts ask.

Prices, coverage, calendars and what happens after a guest checks out. The short answers.

01How much do cleaning services cost in Malta?

A turnover is priced by bedrooms: €50 for one bedroom, €60 for two, €75 for three and €90 for four. Five bedrooms and up are priced the same day. Every rate includes VAT, cleaning materials and the cleaner's travel.

Optional extras are bins taken out for €5, a reset clean for €15 and a welcome bag for €20. The turnover price guide shows how that compares with the rest of the market.

02Which areas of Malta do you cover?

All of mainland Malta: Sliema, St Julian's, Gzira, Msida, Valletta, St Paul's Bay, Mellieha, Marsaskala, the Three Cities and everywhere in between. The price is the same in every town. Gozo is not covered at the moment.

03Is short let cleaning different from Airbnb cleaning?

Not in the work itself. A short let is any flat rented by the night, and the clean between two guests is the same whether the booking came from Airbnb, Booking.com or Vrbo. If the platform gives you an iCal calendar link, the checkouts on it are cleaned the same way and at the same price.

04How does the calendar connection work?

You paste the iCal export link from your listing once. From then on the calendar is read every hour, and every checkout on it becomes a scheduled clean without you sending a message. Only the dates are read; the link carries no guest names. How iCal sync works covers where to find the link on each platform.

05What does a turnover clean include?

The same fixed checklist every time: the bed stripped and remade with your linen, the bathroom and kitchen cleaned, floors done, rubbish out, keys back where the next guest expects them, and photos taken at the end. The order does not change with the state the last guest left the flat in.

06How do I know the flat was actually cleaned?

Every clean ends with four photographs: bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and the keys back in the box. They are timestamped by the server, not by the cleaner's phone, and you are emailed as soon as the clean is filed. Photo proof explains why that matters when you are not on the island.

    07When am I charged?

Nothing is charged when you connect your calendar. After each clean you get the photos by email and a window to raise a problem. If nothing is raised, that clean is billed automatically to the card on file.

    08Can you handle same-day turnovers?

That is the case the system is built for. When one guest leaves at eleven and the next arrives at three, the clean is scheduled into that window straight from your calendar, with no reminder needed. The guide to same-day turnovers covers how to plan for them.

09Do I need to provide linen?

Yes. The linen stays yours: the cleaner swaps the used set for a clean one and starts the washing machine. This is not a laundry service. Cleaning materials are included in the price. How many sets of linen a flat needs is worth checking before the season starts.

    10Who are the cleaners?

Local cleaners in Malta, chosen by Alejandro personally, who also checks the photographs. Cleaners are paid €10.50 an hour plus materials.

    11Can I pause the service?

Yes, any time. Pause it over a quiet winter or while you use the flat yourself, and switch it back on when bookings return. Nothing is cleaned or charged while it is paused.

Every part of running a short let has been automated except the one part that needs a person physically in the room. Pricing, messaging, check in, all solved. Then a guest leaves at eleven, the next one lands at three, and somebody still has to be standing in the flat with clean sheets. That gap is the entire reason this exists.

I build systems for a living, and I run this one myself. I pick the cleaners, I check the photographs, and when something goes wrong on a Saturday morning it is my phone that rings. We cover all of Malta, and I would rather turn a job down than take one we cannot do properly.

Cleaning services in Malta for Airbnb hosts

Most cleaning services in Malta are built for homes that are cleaned once a week. Airbnb cleaning in Malta is different: it is a timing problem before it is a cleaning problem. A guest checks out at eleven, the next one arrives at three, and in between somebody has to strip the bed, reset the bathroom and kitchen, take the rubbish out and leave the keys where the next guest expects them. AutomateBnB makes that window run on its own: your Airbnb calendar is read every hour, and every checkout on it becomes a scheduled turnover without a message from you.

The price is fixed before the booking exists. One bedroom is €50 per turnover, two bedrooms €60, three €75 and four €90, with VAT, materials and travel included. If you are still deciding what to charge your guests, the guide to setting an Airbnb cleaning fee works through the numbers, and the 2026 turnover price guide shows where Malta rates sit.

Most of the pressure is in the gap between guests. The checkout to check-in window in Malta is often four hours or less, and on a same-day turnover there is no room for a cleaner who has to be reminded. That is why the job is started by the calendar rather than by a WhatsApp thread.

Every clean follows the same checklist and ends with four photographs, of the bathroom, bedroom, kitchen and the keys back in the box, all timestamped by the server. Photo proof is what lets you run a flat in Sliema, St Julian's or Valletta from anywhere. The linen stays yours, and how many linen sets an Airbnb needs is worth settling before summer.

Still comparing options? Cleaning companies in Malta puts agencies, freelancers and turnover platforms side by side, and finding a cleaner you can rely on covers what to check before you hand over a key.

Airbnb and short let cleaning in Malta

Short let cleaning in Malta covers every flat rented by the night, not only the ones listed on Airbnb. One apartment can take bookings through Airbnb, Booking.com and Vrbo in the same month, and each of those platforms exports its calendar as an iCal link. Connect them and every checkout is handled the same way, whichever platform it came from: one clean, scheduled automatically, at the same price per bedroom.

What separates a short let clean from a weekly house clean is the deadline. A domestic cleaner can come back tomorrow. A turnover has to be finished before the next guest opens the door, and every new arrival judges the flat as if nobody had ever stayed there. That is why a turnover runs in a fixed order, bed, bathroom, kitchen, floors, rubbish, keys and photos, whatever state the last guest left behind.

Malta adds its own details. Waste is collected as a different stream on different days and guests rarely get it right, so taking the bins out can be added to the clean. Hard water leaves limescale on taps and shower screens faster than most visitors expect. Summer brings back-to-back bookings with no empty night in between, while winter can go quiet for weeks, which is why the service can be paused and switched back on whenever you like.

The price is the same across the island. A one-bedroom flat costs €50 per turnover, two bedrooms €60, three €75 and four €90, including VAT, materials and the cleaner's travel. The extras are bins for €5, a reset clean for €15 and a welcome bag for €20. Nothing is charged when you connect a calendar. Each clean is billed only after its photos are filed and the window to raise a problem has closed.

Coverage runs across mainland Malta, from the harbour towns of Sliema, Gzira and Valletta to St Paul's Bay, Mellieha, Marsaskala and the Three Cities. Gozo is not covered for now.
